Six luminous columns of warm light reinterpret the architecture of the facade’s two propylaea in a minimalistic style. By repeating a common architectural motif, the installation opens a historical dialogue between the two structures. A golden QR code on the illuminated hotel facade invites visitors to access a tale about its history....

Located in the heart of Bergamo, Hotel Cappello D’Oro is a treasure trove of intact beauty, steeped in the city’s history. Its name evokes an ancient tradition, with its most iconic feature being a gilded top hat adorned with real diamonds displayed in the hotel lobby—a gift from Giuseppe Borsalino in 1930 as a gesture of gratitude for the hotel’s exceptional hospitality.

Recently renovated and continually updated to meet modern hospitality standards, the four-star hotel enjoys a prime central location near the city’s main attractions. With a legacy of over 140 years, the hotel is renowned for its elegance, refined spaces, and the professionalism of its staff. Combining the charm of tradition with contemporary comfort, Hotel Cappello D’Oro is part of the Best Western network of international luxury hotels.

Designer

Sara Benaglia

Born in Bergamo in 1983, Sara Benaglia is a visual researcher and essayist. Since 2016, she has been a curator at BACO - Base Arte Contemporanea Odierna in Bergamo. She teaches at NABA in Milan and LABA in Brescia and contributes to publications such as ATPdiary, Antinomie, Doppiozero, and Art e Dossier.

Her latest publication is Note ai margini della storia dell’arte (Postmedia, 2023), and she co-authored Le insidie delle immagini (Postmedia, 2022) and METAFOTOGRAFIA (Skinnerboox, 2021, 2020, 2019). For Postmedia Benaglia has also translated Mieke Bal’s Narratologia in pratica (2024) and Andreas Huyssen’s L’arte della memoria nel mondo contemporaneo (2024) and Andrew Dewdney’s Dimenticare la fotografia (2023)
