Fiammetta
Piazza Giacomo Matteotti 22
Santo Tolone
Fiammetta is the enlarged reproduction, on a monumental scale, of a candle. This highly symbolic object takes on astonishing proportions, measuring 300 (in height) x 210 x 100cm. The cylinder and the candle light have been created by assembling lighting bodies from both industrial and domestic use, such as safety lamps, signalling lamps, flashing lights and neon tubes, mirrored and amplified by a body of water installed in the outdoor area. Water functions as an environmental device that defines the area of action of the artwork, inserted within the existing place....
La Pasqualina’s history as a pastry shop goes back one hundred and eleven years. One hundred and eleven years of taste and selection of the best products make it a historic pastry shop, ice cream shop and café, as well as one of the most popular Italian locales, and the gourmet beacon of the Bergamo Province in terms of eclecticism and quality. The project by Riccardo Schiavi, the fourth generation at the helm of the restaurant, goes far beyond what is on offer and the service, and focuses on the choice of raw materials and the principles of naturalness and sustainability. So, after touring Italy’s villages to get to know his suppliers personally, Schiavi decided to purchase two hectares of land 800 meters away from his historic restaurant in Almenno San Bartolomeo, an create - together with his wife Elena – ‘l’Orto di Lalli’, or Lalli’s vegetable garden. A family farm which, on the one hand, responds to the need to offer an organic, traceable and seasonal raw material and, on the other, allows for experimentation with new varieties of fruit and vegetables, guaranteeing not only the biodiversity of the crop, but also the discovery of the many flavours that nature offers.
The three La Pasqualina restaurants, in Almenno San Bartolomeo, Bergamo and Porto Cervo, offer the customer an engaging taste experience, which allows them to perceive - simply by tasting - the innovation and continuous research underlying the specialties offered: from viennoiserie to baked cakes, from leavened products to ice cream, one of the few in Italy without food additives (thickeners, emulsifiers, colourants, chemical flavourings, hydrogenated fats and powdered milk), to best enhance the taste of the ingredients and thus make it lighter and digestible.
The philosophy and quality of La Pasqualina led it to become Gambero Rosso’s best bar in Italy in 2015 and 2019, to win Tre Coni award in the 2023 Gelaterie d’Italia guide and the symbols of three cereal grains and three cups in the 2024 Bar d’Italia guide.
