FLOWING COLORS

The artwork consists of a series of luminous elements arranged next to one another in a circular shape. The group of lights starts out in a monochrome. One single element is white and "rotates" along the circle, leaving a new color in its path. Gradually, this new color replaces the previous one, filling the entire circle. After completing one full rotation, the process continues, transforming the group into a new color, and so on, slowly but steadily. The colors bounce off onto the surrounding trees, symbolically suggesting nature’s renewal. The installation is mirrored in the fountain, amplifying the light’s reflection within the surrounding arboreal amphitheater. The circular form is symbolic of transformation and renewal. In a circle, every point is both a beginning and an end. Everything returns and renews itself in an endless cycle. Designer

Stefano Mazzanti

Visual artist and lighting designer. He studied at DAMS in Bologna, after which he published the book Luce in scena. He works with light across various fields, from performance to art installations and corporate events. His art installations include Elementi di luce (1999) for Parco del Mincio; Luci d’Ancona (2005), San Giovanni Illuminato (2008) in Catanzaro, and Contemporary Lighting Context (2011) in Como. He has participated in the International Festival of Lights CidneON in Brescia and in prominent festivals in Germany and the Netherlands with two projects: Uomo perfetto (2019) and Light Chorus (2018); the latter featured in the Night of Technology in Cremona, the Verdi Off Festival in Parma, and at Castello del Buonconsiglio in Trento. He participated in the festival Hedoné (Vittoriale degli Italiani, 2023), the Prague Quadrennial, Luminaria (Riva del Garda), and RAAA (Brescia) with the new installation Sonicosmos (2023).
Mazzanti has created performances based on the interaction and synchronization of sound and light: ERGON, Fabbrica Festival 2010 (Brescia), Let there be light (2011) in Trentino, Dream and Flow (2023 and 2024) for A2A in Brescia. He collaborates as a lighting designer with various directors, artists, musicians, and choreographers and has contributed to numerous theater, dance, and opera performances in Italy and abroad. He is a faculty member at the Accademia di Belle Arti SantaGiulia in Brescia. The production of Flowing Colors (2024) is by Idra Teatro, a Brescia-based organization that supports artists and companies by offering advanced services in high-quality event design and production.
